5 SOCIALIZATION RESOURCES
Puppies Won’t Wait
This pandemic has changed a lot of things, including how we approach our Socialization Strategy with young pups. But it hasn’t changed the fact that this stage of development ends early. The goal to introduce your puppy to a variety of people, places, surfaces and sounds before they are 16 weeks remains the same. We must do this as responsible citizens and responsible puppy people. Ultimate Puppy is here to help with 5 socialization resources.
How We Can Help
From the ‘What’ and ‘Why’ to the ‘How’ we provide you with information and tools to stay on track with your Socialization Strategy. Here is a list of resources to help you navigate puppy socialization while you keep a safe distance from others.
Some of the 5 socialization resource examples on the site will need to be amended in order to adhere to the health and safety rules that are now in place because of the pandemic. Use common sense, keep yourself, others and your puppy safe at all times.
Safe and effective socialization is doable. Yes, it will require some creativity and flexibility on your part, but you’ve got this!
When it comes to people and other dogs you will not be coming into close contact. You will simply feed your puppy at a distance as he perceives.
The upside of this is that your puppy will learn to look at you around other dogs and people versus pulling towards them. A whole generation of pups who aren’t accidentally getting reinforced for jumping up on strangers!
In addition to these resources be sure and check out trainers who are offering live online puppy classes in your area. Online coaching works! These classes are fun and effective. An early education for you and your pup can’t be beat.
If you have just brought a new puppy home or are about to, do not miss our On Demand webinar You’re Lucky You’re Cute. This webinar includes a workbook full of how to videos, a bathroom training plan, supply lists and more. Both are yours to keep and use as you raise your ultimate puppy!
Stay Safe and Happy Puppy Raising.
